A Story of Africa’s Journey: Shadows and Light

Africa’s past is marked by profound darkness, weighed down by internal shackles of ancient thrones, mysticism, and fear. The arrival of colonizers brought external chains, as slavery and exploitation ravaged the land, stripping its people of dignity and scattering its sons and daughters far and wide. The continent bled in silence, its wounds running deep.

But then, a flicker of light. Christianity arrived. The missionaries came, not perfect, but bearing hope. They built schools, hospitals, and taught a new way. Many hearts turned to God. Communities changed. The fire of transformation began to burn.

It should have continued. Africa should have risen.

Instead, after flags of independence were raised, new chains were forged—this time by our own. Neocolonialism crept in. A few ruled while the many wept. Corruption hardened systems. Leaders spoke of progress while feeding on the people’s pain. Poverty deepened. Dreams faded.

Even the church, the once hopeful lighthouse, dimmed. From its pulpits came not life, but deception. Some church leaders, instead of lifting the poor, exploited them. Desperate souls, hungry for truth, were served fear and false promises. The place meant to set people free now binds.

And still, we believe.

At Pure Gospel Africa, we are not perfect. We are only vessels. But God has called, and we have answered. Not to deceive. Not to gain. But to declare the truth—the truth that alone sets free.

This is our mission. This is our cry. That Africa will rise, not by might, but by light. May God help us fulfill His call.
